In partnership with the Maui Arts and Cultural Center in Kahului, ‘Ohina presented a selection of films from the O‘ahu showcase at the MACC, to local residents, tourists, as well as several hundred high school students in partnership with local schools and the State of Hawai‘i. Our guests and judges included Detective Pikachu director Rob Letterman, and Moana and Adrift screenwriters Aaron and Jordan Kandell. In 2019, ‘Ohina partnered with the Hawai‘i International Film Festival at Dole Cannery Theatres to present local films. The ‘Ohina Short Film Showcase at the Hawai‘i International Film Festival The talk was followed by a meet-and-greet with Rob, Aaron, and Jordan. In a casual talk story format, Rob, Aaron, and Jordan shared experiences working in the film and television industries and approaches for aspiring creatives to break into Hollywood. Rob Letterman, and Aaron and Jordan Kandell joined the ‘Ohina team with a special Q&A for a packed house of writers, filmmakers, and film enthusiasts at the Doris Duke Theatre in the Honolulu Museum of Art.
